📗Why Reading Comes First
We talk a lot about teaching kids to code. But what about teaching kids to read? Because I remember what reading gave me. Books like Harry Potter, The Rainbow Fish, The Berenstain Bears, Pippi Longstocking, and the Junie B. Jones series… They didn’t just teach me how to read. They shaped how I saw the world. They gave me imagination. They gave me color. They gave me possibility. I could picture entire worlds in my mind. I could see things before they existed. I could believe in things I hadn’t experienced yet. That’s what reading does. So when we talk about the alarming number of kids who aren’t reading at grade level… We’re not just talking about academics. We’re talking about imagination. About confidence. About hope. Because if a child never gets access to those worlds… how do they learn to dream one of their own? Before kids can build technology… they have to imagine what’s possible. And for so many of us— that started with a book. That’s why this matters so much to me.
🎓My Background
I come from a blended world of education, technology, and design. As a former classroom teacher, I learned how children think, question, and grow—and how powerful it is when they begin to see themselves as capable creators. Today, as a digital strategist and founder of The TTC Agency, I design websites, systems, and digital experiences for organizations nationwide. Tech Is Magic brings those worlds together— where code meets creativity, structure meets imagination, and learning becomes something kids can experience, not just study.

💚 My favorite color is green—you’ll see it throughout Tech Is Magic as a symbol of growth, creativity, and possibility. 📍 I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia—where creativity, culture, and community shaped how I see the world. 🐾 My sweet dog Mace is 12 years young and absolutely runs the house. 💡 I’m known as the “Cool Aunty” to my nephews—who inspire more ideas than they probably realize. 🛼 When I’m not building something, I’m probably roller skating, creating, or chasing my next spark of inspiration.
